Resource Title: Paint.NET
Pitch: Paint.NET is the tool you would build if you could include your wishlist for what MS Paint is lacking
Summary: Paint.NET is a free photo editing and painting tool available for Windows machines. It is comparable to GIMP in that it is open source and includes many features that are only found on expensive editing programs. If you are familiar with Microsoft Paint which is included with most Windows machines then you will find Paint.NET to be fairly user-friendly. You will also find that it includes many of the features you wished you had with Paint. Free software didn’t used to be this feature-packed – one of the best is the unlimited undo feature (great for someone like me who goes a long way down a path before realizing that I really screwed up!).
Why authors should care about this resource: As we say often at Author Stash – FREE is an author’s best four letter word. This software delivers. If you need to touchup photos or do basic layer manipulation then this tool is probably one of the most quick to figure out (but if you need help there are great tutorials).
